Pictures of flooded hospital wards are going viral on social media, with a claim that they are COVID-19 hospital wards in Bihar. Nevertheless, it turns out that these pictures are old and have nothing to do with the prevailing floods in Bihar. One of the photos being circulated stated in its description: “Smart City Hospital launched by the Bihar government during COVID-19. Treatment under swimming pool (sic).”
A number of Facebook users have posted the same picture with comments and descriptions on the same lines. The other picture is also being widely shared on Twitter with the description: ‘flooded COVID hospital wards in Bihar.’
A reverse search of the picture directed to the result of a news story published by Hindustan Times in 2018, that included the viral photos.
The pictures have been traced back to PTI and the caption with the picture says: “A flooded room inside the Nalanda Medical College and Hospital after heavy rains in Patna on 28 July 2018.” and the other one is from Osmania hospital, Hyderabad.
